Donald Lee McClarney, 76, Macomb, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at his home in Macomb. He was born Nov. 16, 1934, to Henry D. and Anna P. (Ring) McClarney in Adair County. Donald was raised in the Shawnee area. He attended Valley Brook Elementary in Oklahoma City and was a 1953 graduate of Northeast High School in Oklahoma City. He took criminal justice courses through the state of Oklahoma. Donald proudly served his country by entering the U.S. Air Force in 1953. He married Betta Cox on Oct. 15, 1966, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Donald worked for many years as a correction officer for the state of Oklahoma at the correctional facilities in Lexington, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Purcell Pentecostal Holiness Church. Donald served as a Church Deacon at Memorial Temple, Wanette Pentecostal Church and Highway Tabernacle Church. Donald was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed playing the guitar for 60 years. He loved serving and playing for the Lord for 33 years. Donald loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Betta, of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Dawna and Jeff Rodgers, Shawnee, and Dana Yount, Macomb; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Kim McClarney, Purcell, Rick and Charlotte Springer, Tecumseh, Mark and Wanda Springer, Moore; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2011, at Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church, Shawnee, with the Rev. Justin Blakenship and the Rev. William Browning officiating.
